About Us

Christleton High School serves the children and communities of the small villages around Chester along with those living in the eastern suburbs of the historic city of Chester. The village of Christleton is quiet and picturesque and we are privileged to be located within it.
High academic achievement and a caring and supportive environment are well established at Christleton High School. Our attitude to both academic and pastoral issues is summarised by our maxim:
"We strive to be a happy, hardworking and courteous school".
We have 1300 students, and 140 adults working at the school; my mission is to ensure that everyone is valued and developed in a positive but challenging climate. We regard ourselves as a family and take responsibility for each other’s well being. We try to ensure that our school concentrates on people and learning with efficient support systems to serve that need.
Our academic record is excellent, we are continually highly ranked in the various National and County examination tables and we pursue improvement at every opportunity. We do however place at least equal emphasis on ensuring that students leaving the school are well balanced, caring citizens who are ready to contribute to society. Our job is eased considerably by the outstanding primary schools that serve the area.
Diversity and choice are major ingredients of success. We believe that students are more successful when they have a say in what they study and to that effect we offer free choice at A and AS level of 31 subjects and at GCSE level in 23 subjects including college and vocational options.
The school has Specialist status in Maths and Computing with Business and Enterprise. This specialist status is an exciting development that will allow our school and the local community many new opportunities. The specialism is further raising standards in the specialist subjects and adding excitement, curiosity and community involvement to an already thriving curriculum. It is enabling us to explore new teaching methods and further foster independent learning.
I hope this website gives you the information you are seeking and that you revisit frequently as it develops. We are always glad of suggestions as to its improvement or the opportunity to answer your queries.
