The Pastoral Committee

The Committee meets once a term.  The main aim of the Committee is to ensure that effective systems are in place for the pastoral care of pupils and staff.  This includes being aware of Health and Safety issues, Special Educational Needs and the School Council.  In addition, the Pastoral Committee has responsibility for forming the Pupil Discipline Committee, which considers exclusions from school.

In 2004/2005 the Pastoral Committee considered non-circular matters.  These included:-

·        Reviewing the guidance on consent for using pupil images and making a recommendation to the full Governing Body.

·        Reviewing and updating the school’s Anti-Bullying Policy.

·        Supporting, reviewing and improving the school’s Discipline for Learning initiative.

The Committee will continue to work together to ensure that effective mechanisms are in place for the pastoral care of both staff and pupils and wherever possible strive to make improvements.
