“Christleton High School students head off to top university choices”
Christleton High School is absolutely delighted with this year’s A level results which reflect the hard work and dedication of both students and teachers. Nearly 140 students received A level results this year, with over half of all grades achieved at A*, A and B. In total, twenty-one achieved three grade As or more at A level, with the majority of these gaining at least one A* grade.
Many students were celebrating gaining their first choice university places and will be heading off to institutions throughout the UK; this includes over thirty students who were successful in their applications to the prestigious and highly competitive Russell Group institutions including Bristol, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Nottingham, and six students each to the Universities of Manchester and Sheffield. Other popular institutions such as Bath, Durham, Hull, and York are also destinations for the class of 2011.
One student who was really celebrating this week was Hannah Jones. Hannah was diagnosed with a brain tumour four years ago, and since then has raised thousands of pounds for charity through her tireless fundraising activities. She was delighted to achieve the top A* grade in Health & Social Care, in addition to a grade B in Psychology; Hannah will now go on to study for a degree in Primary Education at the University of Chester.
Head Girl Catherine Hanson who is off to Manchester University expressed the views of many; “Everyone has worked so hard and now they can see the results for themselves! We all have great school memories to take away with us. Thank you to all the teachers and parents for their help and support; all the essays, practicals and revision has finally paid off! I am sad to be leaving Christleton as it is an amazing school, but very excited about going away in just a few weeks!”
