


Performing Arts
From September 2011, students in Years 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13 can apply to take an extra curricular (outside of the school timetable) GCSE Performing Arts qualification*. There are two routes available: Single Award (completed in one academic year) or Double Award (completed over two academic years). There are up to 50 places available for September 2011 and applications are now being invited from students.
Course Content
Students will be given a broad experience of a few Perfoming Arts disciplines (suited to their interests and skills) but can choose to specialise in any one or more of the followng:

- Singing
- Dance
- Music
- Music Technology
- DJ'ing
- Lighting
- Sound
- Set Design
- Costume Design
- Properties (Props)
- Masks
- Puppets
- Make-up
- Stage Management
- Front of House
- Marketing & Publicity

Other Information
Unlike the previous BTEC course, participation in the school musical production is not a requirement of the course as students will be set showcase performances to work on throughout the year. The course begins in September and finishes in June. Students receive the award that summer.
* From 2009 - 2011 Christleton High School offered a BTEC course in Performing Arts.
