CHRISTLETON STUDENTS CELEBRATE AN EXCELLENT SET OF GCSE RESULTS!!

(Posted on 22/08/19)

Students at Christleton High School are celebrating a remarkable set of GCSE results!

A highly impressive 90% of all Year 11 students achieved eight or more GCSEs and, of these, 73% achieved five 9 - 5 grades, (61% including English and Maths).  Naturally, students and staff are very pleased with the outcomes.

Sheila Lister, Assistant Headteacher Key Stage 4 said:

“As a staff team, we really couldn’t be happier for our students with this fabulous set of results.

English and Maths are key benchmark subjects but to receive such fantastic results across all subjects is particularly pleasing.

Throughout the last two years, we have increasingly focussed on identifying and meeting specific individual needs. I firmly believe that this approach has borne real success in students achieving the results they have, and it will really help to prepare them for the next stage in their education, work or apprenticeships.”

Within the Year group, there were some remarkable individual results with 39 students achieving seven or more 9 - 7 grades, 13 of them with 8 or more 9 or 8 grades alone.

Commenting on the results, Damian Stenhouse, Headteacher who retires this month after 35 years in the teaching profession, the last four as Head at Christleton, said:

“Yet again, I am incredibly proud of our students’ success.

All staff and governors were hopeful that the students in this Year group, who have worked so hard, would get the results they deserve. They have clearly achieved this! These are challenging times for young people and it is inspiring to see how committed and hardworking they are. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces as they opened their results. We wish each and every one of our students, success and happiness in their future studies and careers.”

Head of Sixth Form, Mike Cosstick, is looking forward to welcoming a high number of students on Tuesday 3rd September.  Mr Cosstick would urge students to contact the school as soon as possible as we have only a limited number of places available in Christleton Sixth Form.
