The Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 Sport Studies curriculum is theoretical, vocational, practical and valuable in learners’ physical, personal and social development. We actively encourage all students who have a passion and interest in sport either practically and/or theoretically to choose it as one of their options. Both of the Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 courses are split up into 4 units that focus on various areas of interest within the world of Sport and encourage students to delve deeper into their knowledge and understanding of Sport at all levels. The areas of study include:

Key Stage 4

Key Stage 5

Please view our Sixth Form Courses Booklet for more information about this subject in Sixth Form.

At Key Stage 4 students access 5, 1 hour long lessons across the two week timetable. Practical sport sessions are completed when they fit into the curriculum and are not scheduled weekly. Students should be aware of this before they opt for BTEC Sport.

At Key Stage 5 students access 10, 1 hour long lessons across the two week timetable. There is very limited practical content within this course as it focuses on the academic, theoretical nature of the subject.
