GCSE Results Day 2021

Christleton Students Celebrate Amazing GCSE Results.
Christleton High School students are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results today. Despite the numerous challenges students faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, their results show what great determination and hard work, through two challenging and difficult years of uncertainty, can achieve.
With over 71% of students receiving five or more GCSEs (including English and Maths) at Grade 5 or above, this marks one of our most successful years academically. Staff and students are incredibly proud of the progress and outcomes of these last two demanding and, at times, arduous academic years.
Students this year, just as last year, were unable to sit their exams and, as a result, their performance and ultimate grades were decided by regular assessment. Over 34% of students received a Grade 9 in one or more GCSEs, and 69.6% received a Grade 7 or higher in one or more GCSEs.
Commenting on these fantastic results Headteacher, Darran Jones, said:
“It is hard to understate just how proud we all are of our cohort of GCSE students this year. It’s been another tough academic year, but the way in which our students have responded and adapted to these changes has been nothing short of inspiring.
Whilst teachers have faced additional pressures to mark, moderate, and remotely support students through the additional required assessments, we must give huge credit to all our hardworking students for the perseverance and resilience they have shown over the last two years of study – so much of which was done remotely. It has been gratifying in those circumstances to see them grow into the young people they are today.”
Head of Year 11, Stephanie Blackwell, added:
“Our Year 11 students have had to face endless personal and academic challenges these last two years but have faced it all with an incredibly positive attitude and work ethic every step of the way. I am so pleased to see all of the hard work they put into their assessments, classwork and remote learning pay off with an outstanding set of GCSE results and I am very proud of everything they have achieved.
Whether they intend to stay with us for Sixth Form or take another route through college or into work experience and apprenticeships, we wish them every success in their future.”
So many students have achieved fantastic results and it was clear that they were incredibly pleased with their results and proud of themselves for overcoming all the challenges of the last academic year, whilst, at the same time, confident that they will be able to face any challenge that might come their way in the future.
Headteacher Darran Jones added:
“Whether our students are leaving the school to start an apprenticeship or attend another educational establishment, we would like to wish them all the very best in the future.
For those staying with us or joining from elsewhere, our Director of Post-16 Education, Mrs Lister, is looking forward to welcoming all of our new Year 12 students into our Sixth Form on the 3rd September.
We urge all students, whether from Christleton or other schools, who have already enrolled in Christleton Sixth Form, to contact the school as soon as possible to confirm their place, as we have only a limited number of places available.”
